Enterprise Identity & Access Management (IAM) Portal

Sylnovia architected an enterprise Identity & Access Management (IAM) centralized portal providing single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), role-based access control (RBAC), and automated employee provisioning for corporate security compliance.

01 / Challenge

The Obstacle

A regional financial services group employing over 600 corporate staff across multiple business units utilized dozens of disconnected cloud and on-premise business applications. Employees juggled separate usernames and passwords for core banking terminals, CRM systems, HR portals, and internal document storage, resulting in password fatigue and dangerous credential reuse.

User onboarding and offboarding was managed through ad-hoc email requests sent to IT support staff. When an employee departed the organization, revoking access across all external platforms took several days, creating serious cybersecurity vulnerabilities and compliance audit failures under national banking data protection regulations.

Additionally, the institution lacked centralized audit logging to track which employees accessed sensitive financial customer records, making forensic investigations and compliance reporting nearly impossible. The firm required an enterprise-grade IAM solution to centralize authentication, enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and automate role-based access governance.

Engineering & Implementation

Sylnovia engineered a centralized, hardened Enterprise Identity & Access Management (IAM) Portal providing unified Single Sign-On (SSO), adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and automated lifecycle access governance across the client's enterprise application landscape.

Built with enterprise protocols including SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect, the IAM platform serves as the central identity provider. Staff authenticate once through a secure, encrypted portal utilizing adaptive MFA—including hardware security keys, authenticator apps, and biometric verification—granting seamless, tokenized access to authorized enterprise applications without exposing master credentials.

The system features an automated Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) & Lifecycle Provisioning Engine. When HR records reflect a new hire or role transfer, the IAM system automatically provisions the corresponding application permissions associated with that job role. Crucially, when an employee is offboarded in HR, a single action terminates all active sessions and revokes access across every connected internal and third-party cloud service instantaneously.

Technical Matrix

  • Universal Single Sign-On (SSO): Frictionless single-credential authentication across all corporate web, cloud, and on-premises enterprise systems.
  • Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Enforced two-factor verification supporting TOTP authenticator apps, SMS OTPs, and hardware security keys.
  • Automated User Lifecycle Provisioning: Integration with HR databases for automated account creation, role adjustment, and instantaneous offboarding deprovisioning.
  • Granular Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Policy engine enforcing least-privilege permissions based on department, seniority level, and IP location parameters.
  • Centralized Security Audit & Event Logging: Immutable audit trails recording every login attempt, privilege escalation, and access grant for compliance audits.
  • Self-Service Password Reset & Recovery: Secure user-driven credential recovery workflows reducing IT helpdesk password reset tickets.
  • Privileged Access Management (PAM) Guardrails: Elevated session supervision, time-boxed access grants, and re-authentication prompts for mission-critical administrative actions.

Strategic Outcome

The deployment of the IAM portal eliminated orphan accounts and unauthorized access vectors entirely, bringing the financial institution into full compliance with regional cybersecurity regulatory standards. Employee offboarding deprovisioning that previously took up to 72 hours is now executed across all 35 connected enterprise systems in under three seconds.

Internal IT support teams reported an 85% decline in password-related helpdesk tickets, liberating technical staff to focus on strategic cybersecurity initiatives. Staff productivity improved significantly as seamless SSO eliminated the friction of managing dozens of individual application logins each day.
